NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE
Do you know the “96 National Electrical Code” on Temporary Lighting?
- All temporary wiring must be jacketed and all wire leads (pig tails) must be hoursed. (No open conductors will be allowed on temporary lighting)*
- Conductors shall be permitted within Cable Assemblies; or, Cords or Cables of a type identified in Table 400-4 for hard usage or extra hard usage.
- Temporary lighting is allowed during the entire construction period.
* Exceptions to above:
- Open Conductors Units are allowed only for carnivals, circuses, fairs and similar events.
- OSHA (Title 29, part 1926), allows Open Conductors, but strongly suggest following the ‘96 N.E.C. Requirements
